Metaswitch Networks, a private UK-based company designs, develops, manufactures, and markets telecommunications hardware and software to communication service providers, equipment manufacturers and large enterprises.
Call Feature Server
VP6010 and VP6050 Integrated Softswitches offer compact, self-contained solutions for small, medium or large Class 4 / Class 5 switch replacement or for VoIP service delivery. Based on a combination of select MetaSphere telephony applications running directly on processor blades in the Universal Media Gateway platform, the Integrated Softswitch is highly cost-effective and exceptionally simple to deploy.
VP6010 and VP6050 are both built on ATCA platforms designed for cutting edge performance and easy maintenance. The mid-density VP6010 supports up to 100,000 subscribers and 400,000 Busy Hour Call Attempts (BHCA), while the high-density VP6050, designed for larger softswitch deployments, scales to 600,000 subscribers and 2.4 million BHCA.
VP6010 and VP6050 support the widest range of protocols of any softswitch on the market, with comprehensive next-generation and legacy capabilities including SIP, MGCP, H.248, AIN, GR-303, CAS, ISDN, MF and ISUP.
NEBS Level 3-certified VP6010 and VP6050 were designed from the outset for 99.999% (“five nines”) system reliability. They achieves this goal through a fully redundant, hot-swappable hardware design, with a combination of 1:1 redundancy for processor blades and power supplies, as well as all TDM and IP interfaces. Even the internal packet bus is powered by two redundant switches.
MetaSphere Multimedia Telephony App Server (MTAS) leverages the flexibility of SIP to enable a broad array of services, ranging from stand-alone residential or hosted business voice communications and messaging to complete multimedia telephony. The MetaSphere MTAS resides within the applications layer of emerging next generation networks that are transitioning to all-IP ETSI/TISPAN or PacketCable 2.0 IMS cores, extending a full suite of multimedia supplementary services to client endpoints.
Enhanced Application Server
A critical core component for delivering IMS centralized services, the MetaSphere MTAS interacts with call session control functions across the ISC reference interface. By supporting a generic user profile database and employing standard control protocols, it delivers one-number service parity and synchronization across classic circuit switch (CS) and wireline or wireless VoIP packet switch (PS) domains.
MetaSphere MTAS can be deployed in either pre-IMS or IMS network infrastructures to deliver:
Media Gateway
MG6010 and MG6050 Universal Media Gateways represent a new generation of mid-density and high-density access and trunking media gateways uniquely architected to serve as a critical component in integrated Class 5 migration strategies while acting as a vital circuit to packet switched transitional network element in emerging NGN carrier infrastructures.
MG6010 and MG6050 are both built on ATCA platforms designed for cutting edge performance and easy maintenance. The mid-density MG6010 supports up to 48xT1/E1, 24xDS3 or 8xOC3/STM1, while the high-density MG6050, designed for larger media gateway deployments, scales to 144xDS3, 48xOC3/STM1 or 12xOC12/STM4.
MG6010 and MG6050 are equipped to help you migrate rapidly to IMS networks without compromising on legacy interconnection and peering demands. Based on the IMS reference architecture and controlled using H.248, they provide trunking media gateway functionality between classic TDM/PSTN and IMS networks.Emergency Standalone (ESA) function preserves your service with basic call control functions during critical network outages between the MG6010 or MG6050 and its controlling MetaSphere MTAS. In ESA mode, the MG6010 and MG6050 can also assume control of other Metaswitch or third-party media gateways, along with customer premises equipment such as MTAs that have been disconnected from the MetaSphere MTAS.Fully redundant system architecture allows the MG6010 and MG6050 to retain full operational capability in the event of an individual component fault.
Perimeta is a new breed of session border controller (SBC), capable of meeting the fast developing access and interconnect requirements of wireline and wireless networks.
Session Border Controller
Built on a high-availability ATCA platform, the architecture comprises two distinct components: a Signaling Session Controller (SSC) and Media Session Controller (MSC). Conforming to 3GPP specifications for decomposed SBC functions, Perimeta enables independent, cost effective scaling of these critical control elements. Where consolidation of these individual components is preferred, the Perimeta Integrated Session Controller (ISC) combines both SSC and MSC elements within a single platform, without sacrificing performance or scalability.
The perimeter of your communications architecture is only as strong as its weakest link. Beyond the boundary of your managed infrastructure lie many threats to the continuity of your service offerings and to the integrity of your network. Fortify your edge and protect your core with the Perimeta portfolio of session border controllers.

Communication Software
Accession, from Metaswitch, enables service providers to meet these challenges head on. Accession multimedia telephony solutions not only deliver a richer communications experience but allow subscribers to gracefully move calls between 3G, 4G or Wi-Fi-enabled mobile endpoints to PC unified comminication clients (like CommPortal Communicator) or fixed line phones – all while the call is in progress.
This fluid call control enables users to uplift their telephony session to include high definition voice and video on an interface or device of their choice – regardless of where and how the call was made or received.
Accession can deliver a superior primay line service for telephony-enabling tablet computers. Moreover, Accession Communictor-enabled mobile endpoints can assume dual personalities – the business line and the native, personal, cellular number. More than Sim-Ring or Find Me Follow Me, these endpoints present the actual calling features, dial plans and outgoing caller ID of the twined office phone. Accession is ideal for increasingly popular enterprise employee BYOD (bring your own device) initiatives.
Featuring wideband HD voice quality, Accession Communicator Mobile allows users to interact with their basic calling services and extends advanced multimedia offerings like real-time high qualiity video calls and video mail. As a fully-featured unified messaging client, Accession also enables visual voicemail with speech-to-text transcription, centralized contacts, a ubiquitous call history for all endpoints associated with the Accession phone number and pre- ringdown call control options, such as do-not-disturb (DND).
Leveraging dynamic algorithms to control connection states when idle, regardless of the Wi-Fi Access Point, MetaQR dramatically improves the power consumption of mobile devices. Minimizing total packet loss while mitigating transmission delay, MetaQR automatically reduces the effective signal to noise ratio on broadband wireless access networks without adversely increasing traffic loads. Patented application-aware adaptive FEC adds extra redundancy to the media stream providing the best quality video and most efficient use of bandwidth at all times.
